Baraya means ‘sing’ in the Gathang language of the Worimi people, as sourced from the grammar and dictionary of Gathang (Muurrbay Aboriginal Language & Culture Co-op) and is used here with the permission of Worimi Elders.
In using this name, we are able to demonstrate the philosophy behind Baraya Records which is born out of a deep reverence to place and culture and the land in which we live.

Baraya Records is an educational record label that offers students a supportive platform to develop the skills they need to build a career as a professional musician.
Our vision for this new-concept label is to cultivate an environment where artists can build promising careers before transitioning to a commercial label, or pursuing a career as a successful independent artist.
Designed specifically to create a new pipeline of emerging Australian musicians while offering aspiring artists the opportunity to fast track successful music careers, the label combines education with invaluable, real-world music industry exposure and mentorship.
